Many people who marry today to get married by an official of the Government as Civil marriage celebrants. They do not have the traditional marriage performed in a church by a priest or a pastor of the Church. They still regard as married in every sense of the word, even if they did not spend thousands of dollars on a religious marriage.

Some people simply do not have the money, friends or parents to have a great religious marriage or even a small religious marriage, and therefore they opt to just go and marry quietly in the rooms of an officer appointed to civil marriages. If they had spent all the money on a grand marriage, even if there are large gifts, they felt that it was not for them to be married this way. In the years to come when they renew their vows, have a religious wedding in every sense of the Word may be something to anticipate and a goal to reach for. To be recognized by the Australian Government, you must become one celebrating the Civil marriage and be able to conduct marriages, providing civil marriages or non-religious.
